Also interesting is that (recall the discussion of a few days ago) Kerouac's
On the Road, which I myself argued was less significant or "universal" at
least (please forgive me for bringing this up again) than Catcher in the Rye,
was ranked higher than TCIR.  

Also... questionable is the fact that "For whom the bell tolls" was not on the
list althought "a farewell to arms" and "the sun also rises" were...  I simply
cannot understand why Hemingway's greatest work was left off while 2 of his
others were on there...  

And considering the significant ommisions that several others here have
pointed out, I cannot believe that this list was not overly biased.  

Wasn't the list, in fact, the product of  a publishing company?  I'd like to
see a list of the top 100 novels as selected by ordinary readers like
ourselves.
