Thompson myself. As for a Salingerlike writer I always say Heinrich Boll, whose `14 Stories' rivals JD's `9 Stories' in greatness. If you ever come across it I reccommend `Murke's Collected Silences' and `In The Valley of the Thundering Hooves'.
