Yeah, I can't imagine Marquez being left off such a list either. Latin American authors aren't considered Western, and African American authors are only on there because we know we will hear complaints if they aren't :) But seeing Pynchon off the list, well, that makes me stop a second before I start ascribing ethnocentric motives to the compilers of the list. I think Mason and Dixon is one of the most important American books written this century. It just may need some time before it gets that recognition.
