There aren't many bookstores around Madison.  There is the used bookstore
next to the Used CD store, which is next to Blue Mountian sports.  But
the guy in there is kinda crabby.  There is also Pandora's Books which is
next to Poor Herbies.  It's a feminist bookstore.  

And as far are getting into NYC, may I suggest the commuter rail.  Take it
into Hoboken, take the Path to Christopher Street.  I think round trip
costs something like $5.

Heh, so what are you studying at Drew University?
