yes, Elizibeth, I had the same reaction after comming back into the group
after hiatus. However, I've found that the miracles of modern e-mail
programs makes it quite easy to ignore whatever threads of conversation I
find banal. People are very good at keeping an appropriate title, and I
use that to expunge what i won't read. Whoever, there are a few of us who
find the list a good place to converse about intellectual topics because
many of the people on this list have similar intellectual abilities,
interests and very different opinions. I personally don't mind the off
topic posts. just as long as they are interesting.
You can think of the bananafish list as bringing together a group of
JDS lovers. The conversation is the synthasis of that collective.
Sit back. Enjoy the show. Listen when you can. Speak when you must.
