After the recent terror for women in Central Park, the irony of our ideas
of a Central Park pond change...when I reread TCITR, I am usually aware of
the ways American culture has become increasingly violent. I'm not
yearning for the old days or anything, but sometimes our sensibilities of
what it means to be civilized are challenged. Right now, with most of my
books in boxes and with my office in complete disarray, I've feeling
pretty raw, but now that I'm living near water, I can at least watch where
the ducks go...been swimming in the LI Sound almost every day since moving
here--an entire week! will
