Yes, I have smoked Gauloises since visiting Paris in l976. Luckily,
they are too strong and expensive to smoke in large numbers. The
cultural value of Smoking has certainly changed. Salinger
(especially in "Zooey" as noted by Malcolm) used smoking in his
fiction and I believe he was a smoker as well. I seem to imagine him
with a pipe, but I wonder what brand he smoked/smokes? will
