i haven't kept up the material surrounding plath. she
was a distant interest of mine. and as i said in a
post yesterday, i think her reputation is inflated,
and that young women writers should be wary of copying
her voice (and i might add, her life). however, i
think it would be interesting if an ellmann type would
do a dispassionate, balanced bio of her. hayman isn't
ellmann. hayman is a professional biographer who
churns out too many bios for my taste; but he isn't a
paul alexander.
