see...i'm thinking that salinger's descriptions of seymour's poetry could never be lived up by him. it's like brian wilson bringing out smile now. smile is so big, that it's just going to sound silly in comparison to the myth.

i'm thinking that there's no way to take all the description that buddy blurts and put it in a way that's "seymour" good.

you know, for some reason, i started to think that buddy, with his supreme powers of recall...didn't have a sheaf of poems at all. that he merely flipped the pages of seymour's collection in his noggin. but i'm sure he mentions a physical notebook, so i don't know why i thought that. he does make a caustic remark about how he's been "sitting" on seymour's poems for a long time...but, that's where it ends.

i had a waking dream on my walk to work this morning. the air around me became liquid and i was able to swim into the sky above trees and buildings. i then treaded water waiting for a turkey vulture to swoop by (who paid me no mind, mind you), started swimming toward the ground, and then my feet touched the ground and it was done. by the time the waking dream was done, i was at the front steps of my work. tgif. that guy is farting.

perhaps the big question is:

has a mister jerome david salinger, aka j.d. salinger,
tried to actually create those one hundred and
eighty-four poems?

as we know, from the very beginning he was interested
in writing poetry. perhaps, just perhaps, over the
past 40 years he's put them on paper.

whadyathink?
