jon makes a good point in seeing the stylistic similarity between hills
like white elephants and pretty mouth and green my eyes, as does the
earlier link between laughing man and hills...jds admired hemingway, wrote
to him, and met him once near paris...

ps in some ways, i think hemingway manages to influence most short story
writers! (death to too many adjectives, thinking of readers with their
own built in bull shit detectors, etc)
