Welcome, randyr!

I would say you have wise parents. Be grateful for that; it is not
something you see often in life.

I sort of started in the opposite way: Nine Stories was the first book I
collided with, and since I knew the body of work was so small, I read very,
very slowly through the rest of Salinger's published work. Like you, I
enjoy the loop-the-loop qualities of "Seymour," though I have friends who
have described themselves as "infuriated" at the narrative meandering.

>almost reminded me of Visions of Cody by jack kerouac.

Another of my many failings ... I've tried hard to like Kerouac, but have
not yet been able to do it well. But at any rate: welcome to the list, and
thanks for introducing yourself!
