Hi Angie, why don't you read Canadian poets like ROBERT BRINGHURST or DENNIS LEE? Perhaps you've already heard of them but they've been new to me since last year when I started reading their poems with deep interest. Lee's tone is on the conversationally side: it could be an idea to take a look of a poem whose title is: "Not abstract memories, but". As far as it concerns Bringhurst, his "The Book of Silences" is a collection of brainy-storm poems I do love! How can I say........"what really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it" ( hope quotation is correct ! ) I'm pretty sure you'll appreciate them.
