I have to agree that Johnny Depp is a fine actor--haven't seen the movie you mentioned, yet, though. But I think good old Leo deserves some credit. He was Incredible in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape." I think he did pretty good in Romeo and Juliet, too. He's just become so mass mediafied that he's hard to take seriously anymore. I think he would have made a good Holden--for some reason he seems close to the visual image I've always had of Holden. Maybe a little too pretty, I don't know... I see Will Smith as having suffered the same fate. His performance in "Six Degrees of Separation" blew me away. I didn't know he was capable of such depth. But I haven't seen it anywhere else from him, either...
