	My apologies.  My memory was evidently distorted for 
	the moment by an excess of scorn.

	I didn't intend Sinclair Lewis as an example of the Swedes 
	getting it hopelessly wrong.  Old Sinclair wasn't too bad at all. 
	The last little American lady to win the Prize, though sadly not 
	a member of the African persuasion, was of course that early 
	exemplar of PC - Pearl Buck.
