Jonathan Taylor Thomas is 16. Perfect! 

For a director, I think it's more important to understand Salinger than to 
understand Holden. I think Salinger was saying "Look at this Holden guy... =
see 
how dumb he can be?" just as much as "Look at this Holden guy... he's your 
Messiah."
