I think DiCaprio and Depp are *both* exceptionally fine actors ... DiCaprio
will have to be careful to keep challenging himself though, and not go for
the easy Teen Idol stuff, coasting along only on his success rather than
his formidable talent. I haven't seen `Fear and Loathing' (it's not out
here in Australia yet) but I'm looking forward to it. I think Depp is one
of the most consistently excellent and interesting actors of the past ten
years or so, and he features in a lot of my favourite movies (Ed Wood, Dead
Man and Edward Scissorhands for e.g.). He's also one of the most underrated
... I'm really hoping his performance will afford him the Oscar nomination
he so deserves.

BTW has anyone read the book `Burton on Burton' for which Depp provides a
foreword? If I were a publisher I would make him a publishing deal just on
the basis of that foreword - he's an incredibly proficient writer and I for
one would be interested to see if he ever went down that path
professionally.

P.S. Can someone solve two mysteries for me ? Neither `Total Eclipse' (LdC)
or `Arizona Dream' have ever been seen or available in Australia. 1) Why
??? 2) Is it because they aren't very good (I heard the former wasn't great
but I've heard good things about the latter).

actor.
