<<first of all i am not a marxist.
second of all neither was stalin. he was a fascist.

thanks.
paul (who doesn't travel but is going to leave anyway)>>

1. I thought my comments were directed toward Andrew, not you.

2. Ok, Fascist working out of Marxist presuppositions. I mean, shoot,
Hitler was technically a Socialist, for that matter, but more nationalist
than anything.

3. I was being one sided. Capitalism can Really Suck too. I know that.
I know people who have traveled around southern Mexico and Seen for
Themselves what's going on. They've seen a place called "the Widow's
Village"--the Reagan funded Contras killed all the men, and raped the
women. Most of the children there are the children of contras. But at
the same time I've been to Chiapas and seen some of the Feces going on
down there. On the one hand we have capitalist Landowners (Mexicans)
Screwing the Natives (tzotziles, chamulas, etc.--Indian tribes descended
from the Mayans, I think)--while on the other hand we have Marxist
revolutionaries opposing them.

And then on the third hand we have Capitalist American Evangelical
Christians actually building schools and medical clinics (the one I
helped with was in Chenalho, about 45 mins outside of San Cristobal--and
I haven't mentioned the doctors, dentists, and nurses --all capitalist
pigs-- who travel down there At Their Own Expense to provide free medical
services), while all the Marxists seem to care about is what can be
accomplished with the barrel of a gun.

Ok, I'll try to be good and get back to Salinger.
