Hey Sonny! Where have you been?

I have a little something that I want to send you <snail mail>, but I'll
need your address

Yup, RANSOM is about an American teaching ESL in Japan. It's got an IQ
that's approximately seventy-five times higher than BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG
CITY.... I wish I could remember the title of the other novel. It's about a
booze and drug soaked Southerner from the Sixties (I wonder why I like it so
much? Care to venture any Freudian insights, Scottie?) and the title plays
some sort of pun upon his surname....

Cheers,

Paul
