I love _On the Road_, though not necessarily for any kind of plot line or anything like that, because it really doesn't seem to have any.

It's the beauty of the language contained within.  You can pretty much open it up to any page and start to read.  Enjoy the prose.  Smile.

The only thing that I can compare it to is listening to someone like Charlie Parker.  You don't have a chorus, you can't pick out a single recurring theme, but the threads all come together and all that you can do is sit back, close your eyes, and listen to the beauty of it.  Many have compared the book to that kind of work.

Dean and Sal and friends are searching for something that they try to find on the road, but the point is not finding anything.  It's just being on the road.

Oh, and trashing rich guys' Cadillacs.
