If you want to know the truth, old Sally uses smilies
about a million times whenever she emails your's
truly, the old buddyroo left holding her Gladstone's;
she puts them all over the damn letter - in different
kinds of type, f'rinstance in Ariel, Algerian, and the
one she *really* likes - that goddamn Desdemona - now
there's a phony typeface if I ever saw one - strictly
for the birds; like those fashiony types that always
give you air kisses when they meet you for the first
time in their lousy lives and then say good bye about
ten minutes later. Well, old Sally puts about a
zillion smilies on each email, even when it's just to
say "...nine pm on Friday is O.K.," and then when you
do get together, she always goes on about something
you should have brought but didn't, something you
should have said but didn't, or just plain talks about
herself for the first half hour. Smilies, my eye!
She's just plain full of her own smile; and she does a
pretty damn good job of letting you know it.
