I must say, it has been an intersting first few days here in the fishbowl
(which seems to be an appropriate nickname on several levels) and I guess
I'll throw out my answer to my own question.

And I'll agree that reading the Glass in the order in which it falls into
your lap is as good as any order (and it was the order in which I read
them). But if I was a college professor teaching Salinger 451 "The Glass
Family Saga", I'd probably have to go with this order:

-1- Bananafish
-2- Franny
-3- Zooey
-4- RHTRBC
-5- S:I
-6- Hapworth
-7- Bananafish

I think that framing everything with Bananafish (being the only story
featuring a "live" Seymore) really pulls this all together, He being the
glue of the family if you ask me.

If you were to go chronologically (in the lives of the family), you'd have
to start with Hapworth and I think you need more background before you get
there.

And (to add another subject in here) I love Seymore: An Introduction. In no
other story do you learn as much about Buddy as this, about the Glass family
in function, or (of course) Seymore.
