Regrettably, since we last spoke of the Checker, its owner decided to
take retirement. The cab was, I believe, being donated to a municipal
museum, though I forget which. There are a few Checkers that are no
longer in service but are seen around town as private cars. When I
see them I reflexively hail them, even though my brain should know
better.
