Please excuse this public announcement for bananafish in the New York
area. Paul Kennedy will be in town in May, and as is our growing
tradition, we will catch a Yankee game while he's here, and all
bananafish who wish to attend are welcome.

The game we're shooting for is on Friday, May 11, at 7:05pm, the
Yankees vs. Baltimore. We'll likely sit in the "Loge Boxes" area.
(I'm not sure yet where we'll be able to find seats, so it would be
either in the "Tier Reserved" or the "Loge Boxes," which are $17
and $37 respectively, not counting TicketMaster additional charges.)
I know that is a wide price range, but the $37 seats are pretty good
and do not induce nosebleeds, so the chances are good that we'll be
heading toward that area.

If you're interested in going, please mail me privately at:

and let me know that you'd like to go. We'll arrange meeting details
as the day gets closer. It would be helpful if you could let me know
by, say, April 10 if you will make it.

I'll buy the tickets on the 10th, so we have a decent chance to get
seats. Please be absolutely sure that you can make it if you say
you'll be there; I can't afford to eat the cost of tickets for
no-shows. We can arrange for payment at the game. But (this
happened at a concert, so I speak from experience) please don't
impulsively say you'll go and then bail out at the last minute. At
$37 a pop, I'll be in the almshouse if a couple of people reserve
tickets but don't show up!

If you're coming in from outside the city, there are lots of options
for getting around. Paul and I will likely meet in Manhattan and take
the subway up to the stadium. We can easily arrange a meeting point
in Manhattan and then commute en masse to the ballpark. I (who do not
drive) understand that there is parking at the stadium, but I don't
know much about how it works or what it costs. Perhaps someone who
has parked at Yankee Stadium can contribute a message with details
for the rest of us. Getting there by subway is a breeze. It's safe,
it's fast, and it's easy. (OK, I'll quit sounding like an
advertisement for the MTA now.)

I hope that if you're in or around the city, you'll consider coming.
Last year, Paul, Will, and I had a great time at an evening game. We
toasted the good Mr. Salinger, even. This year, you can, too!
