In today's NYTimes Book Review of Heartbreak: The Political Memoir of
a Feminist Militant by Anrea Dworkin, she mentions her adolescent
fascination with Allen Ginsberg (who she later accuses as a
pedophile) and "sneaking copies of The Catcher in the Rye into the
school library (where it was banned)... ." I think some of the more
interesting ideas in Salinger criticism that will emerge may well be
about the author's ability to affect women. will
