I've nothing against a knock-down either, and I'm not obsessed with
Salinger-related topics. I think we all agree to be part of conversations
about other writers, or even about politics.
But whereas you seem to appreciate the recent nasty posts, I just find them
boring -they are so predictable from people who wrote them- and they always
are ruled by cynism. I would tend to enjoy cynism if today it was not the
most commonplace way to lead a conversation about...anything. Sorry, I can't
see any passion in what is a new conformism.
And about "leave-takers" who never contributed: I think spectators have the
right to complain about actors.
