just for the record:

i am in favor of vehement debates of ideas. i'm not
in favor of posts (or parts of posts) in which the
disagreement of ideas crosses the line into attacks
upon the person himself.

in the heat of battle, i feel john g. and daniel
stepped over the line. as for scottie, i think the
line hasn't been visible for quite a while.

I agree about debate but my reply to him covered that as rough camaraderie,
oh well, but his mention of his pedigree smacked of the use of authority to
carry his argument which is an appeal in support of an argument that is open
for debate. My post was trying to humoursly point this out. If you have a
good point who gives a damm what authority you studied under. There is a
time and place for educational heritage but it carries no weight in the
discussion. Sure sources can be quoted but does it matter which fraternity
rushed you? I think Will failed to see this and it is to his loss. I would
prefer that no one unsubscribe and that no one is offended but by all means
do not refrain from saying anything that might offend me hell I'm a big boy.

  
Concerning the Yid thing, I am a Jew from the Sephardi persuasion (and a
Christian) and it is not uncommon for the Ashkenazim to belittle us
scattered remnant the proper slur for me would be Lad since Yid I presume is
short for Yiddish (Hebracized German) Lad would be short for Ladino
(Hebracized Spanish). Ad Hominem away. It reminds me of the put down
contests of my youth, no offence taken into my soul. If you are sensitive
to this then let me know. Notice, I haven't hurled anything at Kim, besides
being on an even keel she provides a lot of no-nonsense data. Oh well, no
traction there yet. As for Scottie, no challenge in hitting a stationary
target, I can relate, the mechanical engineers call us Civil engineers,
Target Engineers. Did Will see the self deprecation?
