Come on John don't slink under a rock, come out and play. Enlighten us,
many of us don't care about #1 and why don't you take a shot at #2. Or are
big bucks required for a distinguished guess lecture? Truth be told we
don't play by your rules so quit the feet stamping and pouting. Throw your
cards down, we swine promise not to trample your pearls (with fingers
crossed). At least throw a poem out and I'll toss out one of mine. I
already have my shirt off and my belt tightened.

To review:

Two claims were made.

1.) The academic members of this list are "lost in the world of interpretive
decuntstructionism."

2.) You do not need to be "knowledgeable" about an author before you can
criticize him.

The first claim, as we have seen, is demonstrably false. The academic
members of this list have never even offered a single deconstructive reading
of Salinger on this list, nor are they particularly active in the field of
"deconstruction" in their professional lives.

The second claim, I feel, is intellectually irresponsible. I will not
debate the specifics of any author's work with someone who begins from this
premise.

Nothing more need be said.

All the best,

--John
