Laugh it up, John G. It's only a listserve.

I called you reluctant reader, you called me callow youth.
I said you were yellow, you said I was green. You see, we
might have something going here. Colouful, clownish sort
of thing. It has always been good fun here, but in this thread
    it would be counterproductive.

    You said:

"You've still got a year or two of undergrad work
before you can make your voice heard."

Ja! But I don't won't my voice heard. I'm not an author, I'm
(as you pointedly reminded me) essentially a lurker.

For the moment, I'm not even remotely interested in this kind
of theory, and haven't read much of it. I'm just as ignorant
about all this as you are (see, we're already bonding).

Therefore, I'll just quote from the Encyclopedia. If I
understood you correctly, you may find this at least mildly
helpful. Otherwise, you may dismiss it contentedly. Then
we can all move on. To Shakespeare, I truly hope, since
we have a resident scholar on that one too.

One final favor I ask you: if you don't like this, don't blame
me (I'm an ignorant sod, remember), nor John O. (he is
strictly against it) nor Derrida (he is French).

    Saludos,
    Diego D.

PS: When this message was first shipped away, it wrecked.
Then this music crept by me upon the waters:

"(...) The list software we live on (not something
I control) has a limit for messages of 30,000 bytes.
That's pretty hefty -- about 15 typed pages!

Your message was longer than that (I don't know
how much longer, but it was longer), so it bounced.

What I usually recommend in cases like this is that
people send out the announcement, but stick the
long item on a web page, and put the URL in the
              announcement mail. (...)

              Best,

              --tim o'connor"

Yes, it was Tim himself! The wizard behind this isle full
of noises, sounds, and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt
not. Thank God there's a Tim behind the machines!

And his tactfulness actually charmed me into an air of
reconciliation (I edited my original post). One should be able
to call him up whenever one is stuck in a grumpy mood.

Well, chaps, voilą oł je voulais en venir - le petit collage:

(Watch out. It's a pretty heavy file.)
