in as much as both are poets, yes i agree. but i
don't see ford as an embryonic seymour. though i
might say that the 'bananafish' seymour is closer (as
opposed to the glass stories seymour). i wonder if
jds's writing chronology will ever be established, and
we'll know how soon after 'forest' came 'bananafish'.
(though we might recall that the first version of
'bananafish' existed as early as january '47 and
'forest' was published in december '47.)

isn't bunny some terrible poet who seeks an audience
with ford (and corrine intercedes and gets her one)?

i never took bunny for being a real writer; she's more
of a con artist.

i can't remember how it comes about that ford
disappears with her. on the spur of the moment? a
flight from corrine's class of society? did ford
experience writer's block after the marriage and
hence saw bunny as a route to writing again? as you
can see, my memory of the story is hazy.
