oh, that was 'gravity's rainbow'.
but, seriously, aaron has a point that we don't know
what happened to seymour during the war. we don't
know how he ended up in an army hospital. (we
certainly don't know how long he was in that
hospital). we DO know that during the last three
years of his life he wrote those 184 poems.
as for any additional information re the suicide
post-'bananafish': we have the suicide poem added to
the saga in 'zooey'; and in 'zooey' we learn that
muriel wasn't so destroyed by the suicide as to
forget to go out and buy her bergdorf black for her
meeting buddy off the plane.
