The young Jerry, steeped with Kafka, Dostevezky (sic), Tolstoy, Fitzgerald
etc, writes his way up the 'Hill', the war, meaning in life, French mystic
wives, waning literary success (at least early Catcher reviews), visits to
the local American Hindu shop, so what do you expect?, he has to 'leap' out
of this 'cul de sac'. He offs himself to be resurrected in a new landscape.
Old ruts are hard to escape, even for the oblivious reborn so, Buddy laments
the empty carcass, while the 'escaped' Seymour pulls the strings from the
ether.
