Pretty good reading, I can see that. The author makes himself matter
via the freaking Sock Puppet; a.k.a., Buddy Glass. It's like walking
into a hall of mirrors.
It's entirely possible to read all these stories and forget about the
narrator, but Salinger tends to make the narrator part of the story,
sometimes in odd ways.
