we might keep in mind that there are about 125
subscribers to the list. probably ranging from age 12
to 72. a wide spectrum of life experience, reading
experience, and vulnerability.

i'd guess circa 15 post regularly, and another 20 once
in a while. my hunch is, and it's just a hunch, that
one of the reasons there aren't more posters is the
perception that the list can easily turn into high
noon, hands hovering over holsters.

though it might make for momentary excitement, i
wonder if it keeps too many people from feeling safe
to speak up.

Feeling safe, if Salinger, Kafka, Rilke, or any other writer of note poured
the same value into those two words we would be left with talk of the
weather and the rush hour traffic report. I am not fast and my pistols are
single action, surely I am only that despicable border trash easily
dispatched with a shovel.

Kim, many posts soar through without a scratch. Even the ones that take
fire rarely result in mortal wounds. If any ever aspire to write in any
public forum (myself included), they should welcome responses, good or bad.
It means someone is listening and paying attention to what is said. Kevin
and the rest of the posters are fully capable and free to speak for
themselves, I have that much respect for them and see that much dignity in
every poster/speaker. What you see as deadly combat, I see as playful
wrestling, and I hope that is what the named 125 see, but oh well. Maybe
another reason there ain't more posters is, like Jim's prune or lack there
of, they haven't been moved.

125 posters, lurkers, shirkers, screamers, gigglers, criers speak up, gang
up, holler, lurk, cry laugh, delete. do what you choose to do.

Kim, put away the diapers and bottles and warm hugs, on second thought, pass
them over this way.

Daniel
