As far as J.D. Salinger being on this list goes, don't hold your breath.
Being on this list would go against his slant on literary analysis, I think.
Have you ever read his acknowledgements in "Raise High the Roofbeams"?

Finally, I can assure you that societal discourse was *not* what drove
J.D. Salinger into hiding. I think it was his being so averse to western
culture with its tendencies towards shallow and superficial thoughts and
actions that did it more than anything and I think that the philosophy
that he consistently develops and posits in his books suggests as much as
well.
