I realize everyone was pretty much finished discussing this days ago but I
only check this list once a week or so and had to say that although I love
practically everything about the book my very favorite part is near the very
first where he is describing having been at Pencey Prep - I love that whole
paragraph and especially the lines "'Since 1888 we have been molding boys into
splendid, clear-thinking young men.' Strictly for the birds. They don't do
any damn more molding at Pencey than they do at any other school. And I
didn't know anybody there that was splendid and clearthinking and all. Maybe
two guys. If that many. And they probably came to Pencey that way."

I guess I love that so much because for me that was the moment when I realized
this was going to be a great book. The kind of book I would be sad to finish
but devour as quickly as possible anyway.
