chapter (On Richard Hugo and his writing pedagody) come out in _Teaching
Writing Creatively_ (Edited by David Starkey) published by Boynton/Cook,
l998 and expect marc wondra to come out any minute now with _Roofbeam_ (we
gotta subscribe and support this one!) and some of my thinking about
Hapworth in a short essay.

I've been in portland oregon at a writers conference and have to admit
being around so many writers made it clear to me that mr. salinger is
indeed wise to avoid such static...but I did have fun from renewing old
(over 20 years) friendships to making friends of writers I "know"
online...here's the poem that I came home with but it may be clear I
needed mr. salinger's sense of spirtiualism  to get it going...


Sugar Shoes

I belong where I stand
Layering moxie on top of sole
Scamming myself honey-wise
To what is needed
Lacing hearts and minds
Against me
There are no alters
In this holy place
Just dancing
