I've reviewed some of mr. salinger's letters to edmund wilson and they are
pretty rich--among other gems, he mentions his love for william shawn by
crediting the new yorker editor with saving his professional life and
"Franny," and he lets wilson know he's the only important critic who loved
writers of fiction...I too love Wilson work--I recommend _Axel's Castle_
top anyone wanting to experience some of our century's best critical
sensibility. will
