I've reviewed some of mr. salinger's letters to edmund wilson and they are pretty rich--among other gems, he mentions his love for william shawn by crediting the new yorker editor with saving his professional life and "Franny," and he lets wilson know he's the only important critic who loved writers of fiction...I too love Wilson work--I recommend _Axel's Castle_ top anyone wanting to experience some of our century's best critical sensibility. will
