It's always interesting to speculate on such things, but there is a great danger in simply reading everything an author writes as autobiography. If you read further into the Hamilton biography (and I dip into that self centred hatchet job as little as possible) you'll read about the search for the `basis' for Sybil from `Bananafish'. You have to be selective in reading such evidence in the author's real life; besides, there is just as much possibility that he takes from his relationship with his first wife or any number of other relationships, or none at all. Parallels, yes maybe, but duplicates - tricky ground.
