Nah, actually I agree with the idea that Russia was better off under
communism than now.  That has more to do with the sloppy transition from
a completely guided market to a free market than with the nature of
either system in itself.

If you remember I said in my earlier post that the economic systems we
espouse have to meet the need, but of course I saw a free market as the
ideal.  I think Russia really needed a guided market for some time with a
gradual transition to free market capitalism.

The question you need to ask yourself is, "Why did they abandon communism
to begin with?"

And you also need to read Solzhenitsyn.
