    One detail from the Salinger film that I *had* forgotten.

    After his time in the military academy JDS attended some 
    sort of liberals art college for a year.  It was here that one 
    of the elderly lady contributors - rather a sprightly one - 
    described the stunning impact he made on all of them 
    with his big city, big money, sophistication.

    The film introduced her as an old girl friend from whom 
    he derived the name of one of his best known heroines.   
    The name in the caption was: Frances Glassmoyer.
