hello all!
i hope you will forgive me for starting this way, but i love you all; thank
you for the straight answer. none of you, i say with confidence, have seen
the sort of shenanigans i've been seeing this past week. the american academy
of osteopathy held its annual convention. i found there many people (it was
my first time going) who were a little *too* damn beautiful. they knew a
little too damn well what life was all about. for those of you who do not
know what osteopathy is, let me summarize. in the late 19th century a man in
missouri invented from thin air a new way of treating sickness with many
parallels to ayurved and shiatsu. his name was a.t. still. he wrote a book
called _philosophy and mechanical principles of osteopathy_ if you want the
whole story.
in case you are not aware, there is a rampant growth currently for energy
medicine: accupuncture, herbs, yoga, etc. i've coined the phrase "new age
religion" probably just to piss off a bit the people who call it new age
philosophy, but also because it has all the makings of an oppressive,
sell-your- soul system. it seems that the osteopathic community, in an effort
to grow inot awareness (sorry for the way that sounds, and the way a lot of
things i say sound; but if you just do this (please) *think* about what i say,
i say that with utmost respect, but also despair, then i promise not to shine
brighter than i'm supposed to. it also doesn't help that english was my
second language after greek, a most romantic language, indeed) (so they are
innocent, but then aren't we all)...anyway...there were all these people
walking around the convention, i'm trying to say, who knew what life was, who
knew what love was, who knew what peace was, and on top of this all knew how
to use magic to transform the world! i'm laughing. people selling
crystals...books on it all. it was a circus. i'm going to bare it all again,
folks, and say i'm a bit disappointed. osteopathy is my future. a.t. still
taught such good energy etiquette. many have followed. where are we?
chasing a dream.
hugs and kisses, john touzios
