This is terrific. I have got quite a summer booklist.

"A Heartbreaking Tale of Staggering Genius," David Eggers (?)

"22 Uncollected Short Stories of JD Salinger" By (You Guessed)

Re-reading "Life After God" by Douglas Coupland
and, having just been to a book signing by Tom Robbins,
am wondering between a re-read of "Skinny Legs and All" or
a dive into "Jitterbug Perfume."

Also interested in getting into the classics but i have a hard time with

anything novel-looking written before 1935, aside from Willa Cather
(sp?)
and I am not quite certain as to why.

Just finished numerous books on Zen, all of which were saddening;
and have, just as of lately, been inspired by an absolutely terrific
girl
to start looking for poetry; and have redoscovered Rilke, Bukowski
and some absolutely amazing Haikus by Issa in an anthology edited
by Robert Hass. I keep wishing Rilke would start talking about TV
or plastic or washing machines though, I'm terrible that way. I think
Rilke would be Bukowski if he was american, alchoholic and
mysogynistic.

Anyone got any good poetry recommendations?
