Well, after all of our political bickering, we forgot this seemingly
innocuous and fairly lnteresting little note that started it all. So, Will,
how did it go? Did you get to meet the great man, maybe even ask him about
his GREAT idea for starting a new arms race? Does he smell funny, maybe
even anti-septic? Is he as short as I think he is? Did they serve beef
from Europe? Was the spirit of Mao there? The questions are endless, just
spill all the beans man!

By fluke of marriage and timing, I'm heading to Washington DC to
attend the National Whitehouse Correspondents dinner where I will be
"tuxedoed up" and able to break bread with the prez...maybe I'll ask
him to contibute a letter to Salinger...is there is ever a mention of
any president in any of Salinger's fiction? will
