Hmm. I just went and checked out the pictures. There were a lot more
Salinger shots than I would have thought. However, just to get a better
idea for comparison, I then launched into a search of other reclusive
authors:
Harper Lee - 6 pictures (all posed, which surprised me)
Beckett - 1 picture
Pynchon - 0 pictures
The Pynchon thing made me grin. Has no one ever taken a photograph of
the man? That he has managed to avoid capture on film and Salinger has
not is a little amusing.
There were other photographs that I enjoyed. There's a particularly
good one of Vonnegut through a window. My favorite, however, was a
youthful group shot of Ford, Pound, and Joyce with their lawyer.
Oh, to have lived in Paris between the wars ...
