hello.

I joined this list a while back, but neglected to add onto
the conversation. But i got tired of lurking, so.....
Hello everyone!
An introduction is in order, I assume. My name is
Jennifer. I'm a freshman at the University of
California, San Diego. Despite that, I'm notorious for
poor grammar. I got interested in Salinger when I read
The Catcher in the Rye. After that, I started reading his other
available books, and I'm really interesting in reading
the so-called unpublished books.
Anyway, I've also wanted to ask a question concerning
the list's title "Banana Fish". There is a Japanese comic
translated in English with the same title. However, in the
comic, "Banana Fish" is a drug. This drug supposively
is used for mind control, but makes people suicidal or
insane (sounds similar to any Salinger-esque?).
When I read a review in a magazine, the writer refers to
the "banana fish" in Salinger's story to be a fish that kills.
A proper portrayal of our favorite fruity fish?
If you want to read more about the comic, a summary
can be found here:

And I have blabbed more than I needed. Again, hello
everyone. I hope I haven't irrated anyone yet...

J.N.
