yes, she sure seems self centered.

how her editor allowed all of that post-6-year-old
stuff in is beyond me.

unfortunately, we didn't get a memoir from a balanced
source.

it's interesting that matt salinger in his one
statement re the memoir remarks that he doesn't
recognize the home
fe peggy describes.

however, even if peggy had many axes to grind, i don't
think jds comes off well as either a father or
husband.

my pet theory re jds is that his relationships with
women are off-kilter and it started with oona dumping
him, and then sylvia bewitching him.

as much as i find joyce maynard's self centeredness as
offputting as peggy's, her revelations regarding jds's
penchant for eighteen-year-olds further disturbs. (i
think the intensity of the adult sexual relationship
with sylvia sent jds off in the direction of his
fixation with girls on the verge of womanhood. but
who knows, this is all speculation....)
