Loved 'Popular One'. Very Doors!

That is an excellent idea! My old 'Who's your favourite Beatle?' trick
has a bad track record...

My English course is:
Catcher In The Rye, Lord of the Flies, Wuthering Heights, King Lear, The
Plough and the Stars (Sean O'Casey)

And the poetry of:
Emily Dickinson, Thomas Hardy, Gerard Manley Hopkins, W.B. Yeats,
Patrick Kavanagh, and Austin Clarke.

On the whole, I say it's THE most depressing collection of work they
could possibly think of...

Me too. I totally agree. BUT, although I'd like to read it, as far as I
can see, the later his work, the more 'far-out' and difficult to relate
to it is. Call me mad, but I can't see myself enjoying the post-hermit
stuff. It just wouldn't appeal to my world, because I live IN THE WORLD,
and Salinger appears to have wandered into the realm of, quite frankly,
literary wanking.

h. (wondering if she's said something she shouldn't have...)
