Oh Hi!

I guess its time for me to shake all your hands now. My name is Jonas...
(Weezer-reference?) Nilsson and I am hiding in Lund in Sweden and this is
my official introduction-mail. I have been hanging around the list for a
while, but havent taken the time to introduce myself properly until now.
Anyhow, I am an English-student at the University of Lund, a worshipper of
Salinger/the House of Glass and a 20-page-paper-writer on why Seymour Glass
is a prophet of our times and the Glass stories are a kind of modern bible.
(If you have any views on this you could of course tell me, but I dont feel
like being yet another student wanting help with some schoolwork, so feel
free to do whatever and ever...amen)

I must admit that I sometimes find this list just as amusing, wonderful
and revelating as the Salinger books. Some of you have already saved my day
thru things youve said. Thanks a lot already.

I know that I have read something on the relation between the Salingerbooks
and the TV-show "Party of Five" on this mailinglist a long time ago, but I
couldnt find it today as I was browsing thru the archive. I cant remember
exactly what was written, but I had the feeling that the general opinion
was that there was just the namething, that the family is called Salinger,
that had any importance. But I dont think thats it. Let me just point out
some other things, and excuse me if this has already been noticed,
discovered and talked about.

1. OK, the family name is Salinger. And its a large family of five kids -
just as many as there are alive in the Glass family today (as far as we
know)
2. The other week (I dont know how far behind Swedish television is
compared to America) a family friend came home to get married to a girl
named ... Franny.
3. This week when one of Julias best friends had committed suicide and the
class sat down to discuss the whole matter, the teacher said something like
"OK, letīs put this weeks assignment 'Franny and Zooey' aside and talk
about Libby [the friend] instead"
4. Charlie, the eldest brother, didnt show up for his wedding - just like
someone else we know.

Ok, thats all I got for now, but thats mostly becuz I havent thought about
this until very recently. But I do love the show and I do recommend it with
all my foolish heart. So I guess I will see you around.
