Theme of Catcher & Curlew Sandpipers

Hey..
I'd like to hear some ideas of the theme of Catcher... I mean,
well, I've come up with a thousand but the two most prominent, I
believe, are:
1. The society sickness (y'know the one Mr.
Antolini
whispers about) that we all know too well.
2. Salinger's exploration of Holden's (Holden
being
just a primary, general example)
perspective and
view on life. Salinger presenting
Holden's view
of wanting to rub the 'fuck yous' off, or
to catch
and protect everyone as ultimately the
not-so-good
choice. I think this point develops when
Holden
realizes (in the last few pages of the
book while
Phoebe is on the Carousel) that it's bad
if you
try to tell the children to not reach for
the golden
ring so they won't hurt themselves.
Anyway, I just wanted some input, heh, or output.
