I agree with both. First, by feeling that fauna is equal,
in a biological way, to animals (including you and me).
Second, that there is a difference between killing animals
and plants, in a moral way. I too was a vegetarian for
about eight months. I travelled to Vancouver Island on
the final day of vegetarianism, very hungry and w/out
cash. I had to smash a rabbit's skull to cook and eat the
meat, with salt and pepper. After the feast, I resumed my
love of meat and of fruits and veggies too. I didn't feel
bad for the rabbit because she wouldn't feel bad for
killing a mouse. Just because I'm more intelligent than a
rabbit doesn't mean I should pity it. I'm jealous that I
can't run as fast as a rabbit. I should mention that I
avoid most meats for health reasons, avoid veal and
dolphins and buy free range eggs for morals, avoid animal
testing for simple choice in variety (it's easy, why wilt
a rabbit eye?), and above all, avoid watching bullfights
(though I'm still fascinated by it after reading Death in
the Afternoon)

I want to talk about a Perfect Day for Bananafish. Does
anyone else love Seymour like I do?
